Brazilian footballer Vinicius Tobias, currently playing for Shakhtar Donetsk, has been hit with devastating news: a DNA test revealed that he is not the biological father of his newborn daughter, Maite. The 20-year-old defender, who previously had a brief loan spell at Real Madrid, had celebrated the birth by tattooing the message “Maite, I love you” on his arm.
Joy Turns to Heartbreak After DNA Results
Tobias and his ex-girlfriend, Ingrid Lima, welcomed baby Maite on October 8, 2024. To commemorate her arrival, Tobias got her name inked on his body, showing his deep affection. However, things took an unexpected turn when the DNA test confirmed that Maite was not his biological child.
According to reports from The Sun UK, Ingrid explained in a public statement that the couple’s relationship had been unstable around the time Maite was conceived.
Ingrid Lima’s Public Statement Addresses the Controversy
Ingrid took to social media to clarify the situation and urged people to stop blaming Tobias. “I came to give a statement about something that is becoming annoying,” she wrote. “Vinicius and I have not been together for a while. During that time, I was in a relationship with someone else, and so was he.”
She continued: “We both moved on with our lives, and in the meantime, Maite was born. After discussing things, we decided to do a DNA test, and it showed Maite is not Vinicius’ daughter.”
Ingrid revealed that she had requested Tobias not to attend the birth or post anything about Maite until the paternity results were confirmed. “Vinicius and I have reached an amicable understanding. Please stop attacking him.”
Vinicius Tobias Silent on the DNA Test Revelation
Despite the emotional turmoil, Tobias has not made any public comment regarding the DNA results. His brief stint at Real Madrid saw him make only one senior appearance before returning to Shakhtar Donetsk, where he continues his career.
