One teacher is also accused of sending revealing photos to the student’s Snapchat.
Alexsia Saldaris, a first-year teacher, and Jennifer Larson, an 11-year veteran, resigned in April following an investigation at Joseph Craig High School in Janesville, which uncovered the explicit messages, according to WMTV 15 in Madison.
Both reportedly confessed to inappropriate Snapchat interactions with the unidentified male student, whose age remains undisclosed.
Saldaris admitted to sending provocative pictures, while Larson acknowledged sending messages about “cuddling, flirting, and suggesting alcohol.” The scandal centers around a school trip from April 7 to 9, during which the district claims both teachers sent the student messages expressing their desire to cuddle and “have fun” with him.
They also inquired if another student could join. During the same trip, Saldaris allegedly handed the student the keys to a district van, allowing him to drive around the parking lot. As she changed her shoes in the back of the vehicle, they shared “a half kiss,” the network reported.
On April 9, Saldaris allegedly sent the student five photos of herself in underwear and lingerie. Additional texts revealed plans for them to meet that weekend.
However, nothing further transpired in the following days, according to the Daily Mail.
The next day, Larson reported Saldaris to the administration for letting the student drive the van. That same morning, Saldaris texted the student, stating their relationship needed to end, to which he agreed, the network reported.
On April 11, the same administrator who received Larson’s complaint was informed by another teacher about a group of boys laughing at pictures on a phone.
The teacher said they were “95 percent sure” that the photos the boys were viewing were of Saldaris in her underwear.
The district placed both teachers on administrative leave on April 12, according to the station.
Ten days later, the school board accepted their resignations.
Larson, who also served as the school advisor for the Wisconsin DCEA, a program for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs, admitted to telling a male student that a girl he was seeing wasn’t “good enough” for him.
The Janesville Police Department is investigating whether the teachers violated any laws and should face criminal charges.
