A young man from Cali has taken the social media world by storm after he began posting videos on TikTok, where he expressed his frustration with the misuse of bicycle lanes in Cali, Valle del Cauca, by motorcyclists.
These riders, instead of using the roads designated for them alongside vehicles, persistently use the areas designated for the safe movement of cyclists in the city.
In the videos, the young man, Andrés Tejedor, is seen riding his bicycle and voicing his concerns.
In addition to Tejedor’s face, the videos show several motorcycle riders in the wrong place on the road. Despite Tejedor’s repeated requests in the three and a half-minute initial video for the motorcycle riders to leave the cycle lane, they do not comply. He even threatens to call the police for violating traffic regulations, but his pleas go unheard.
The fine for not respecting the exclusive bicycle lane is over $500,000 pesos. Despite efforts by the Cali Mayor’s Office to ensure proper separation of road users and protect vulnerable groups like cyclists, these measures have had no effect.
The day after sharing these videos, the young man returned to social media to share that he had been fired from his job due to a work accident and expressed his frustration with the injustice in the country and the lack of opportunities for young people like himself.
